MODESTO – Authorities investigated an officer involved shooting that took place behind the Motel 6 on West Orangeburg Avenue.
At about 9:45pm, an officer called out “shots fired” over their radio channel. The dispatch prompted a large response from numerous officers. An ambulance was also requested to the scene. Paramedics were seen unloading equipment, but left a few short moments after without a patient.
Later, the Modesto Police Department released a statement indicating that officers responded to the location after receiving information that a person was at the motel who was wanted on warrants. At least one officer opened fire while they were making contact, and the person was shot and died.
Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Officials did not release any further information Friday night.
