EMPIRE – A bicyclist was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a train.
The collision happened at about 8:00am near the intersection of Second and E Streets in Empire, just east of Modesto.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, however the bicyclist was pronounced deceased.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol investigated the crash. Road conditions were foggy, and visibility was said to be about 500 feet. It was not said if the weather conditions played a factor in the crash.
Traffic in the area was impacted by the stopped train during the morning hours. No further information was released.
