SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY – The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s office says Thursday, May 15th the Custody Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) along with their Custody K9 Unit conducted a cell search at the jail. While searching the cells, the K-9 team found three individual bindles of an unknown substance inside a bag of refried beans, which was purchased from commissary.
Authorities say one bindle had a black tar like substance. The other two had a rocky white and a white powdery substance. After testing the substance, it tested positive for 17.4 grams of Heroin and 4.8 grams of PCP.
The inmate was identified as 45 year old Edward Ray Green who now has an added charge for possession of a controlled substance in a jail.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department says “Although this may not mean anything to some, it means a lot to us. Any ‘Contraband’ is ‘Too Much Contraband’ and by far does not belong in Our Jail. We at the San Joaquin County Jail strive for the safety and security of our facilities and everyone in them.”
Daily searches are conducted regularly by Correctional Officers in random locations.
