Lathrop Police Services Arrests Kidnapping, Assault Suspect

LATHROP – Authorities charged a man with kidnapping and assault after a report of a disturbance Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to the report of a disturbance in the 19000 block of E. Hwy 26. Police say the person who called reported that the suspect 35 year old Andrew Brooks, was intoxicated and attempting to choke his girlfriend of one month. When family members attempted to stop Brooks, he became violent and left.

At a later time, Brooks returned to the area and chased his girlfriend, forcing her into a vehicle and leaving the area.

Hours later Brooks was located and arrested at 1700 Block of Adelbert Avenue in Stockton.

Brooks’ girlfriend was also located. Officials say she was being kept against her will. She stated to officers that she was assaulted by Brooks as he was driving.

Brooks was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail and faces charges of domestic violence, kidnapping and assault with great bodily injury.
