Multiple Alarm Fire Burns For Several Hours in Stockton

STOCKTON – The Stockton Fire Department battled a large five-alarm fire Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to the area of D and Waterloo Streets at around 7:00am.

As crews arrived, they noticed plastic pallets burning outside of a tomato plant. The fire continued to burn for several hours causing a black plume of smoke visible as far as Modesto.

Fire crews were able to protect the tomato processing plant and say about one and a half acres of plastic pallets burned during the hours long fire.

No injuries were reported at the business but at least one firefighter was transported to an area hospital for reports of heat exhaustion.

The department is advising anyone who lives nearby were the fire happened to stay inside with windows closed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
