SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY – The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office says their Animal Services Department received a call Sunday about a sea lion on a stretch of I-5 and Highway 205.

The Marine Mammal Center and the California Highway Patrol were called to help in capturing the sea lion.

The Sheriff’s Office says the animal was an adolescent male and was placed in a crate for transport.

After capture, the young sea lion was given the name of Gilligan. He was then taken for evaluation by the Marine Mammal Center.
