STOCKTON – A local restaurant is stepping up and helping a homeless man who was robbed and beaten.
Mike Linker, the owner of Victory Grill in Stockton says he has looked after and considered the victim, John Lee a friend for over 25 years.
On Thursday May 14th, the 71 year old was beaten and robbed for his wallet says Linker, on a Facebook post from the Victory Grill page.
“He is homeless living in a van and has mental disabilities, but is harmless and kind hearted. He is the hardest worker I know and stays out of trouble.” Says Linker.
A Go Fund Me fundraiser established by Shelly Pina Lastella for Lee has now doubled its $1,000 goal in one day.
Victory Grill will hold a fundraiser Wednesday, May 20th and will be selling their classic burgers and fries to go from 11 AM to 5 PM. 25% of the proceeds will be donated to Lee for food, clothes and shoes.
Other than the fundraiser, anyone interested in helping with clothing donations can drop them off at Victory Grill on Wednesday. Lee fits in both medium and large shirts, and wears a size 11 shoe.
