TRACY – Police investigated the death of a suspect who stabbed two men at a bar as a homicide Wednesday morning.
The incident happened at about 1:00am as officers with the Tracy Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing in front of a bar on the 2700 block of Pavilion Parkway. Arriving officers located two persons suffering from stab wounds. They were transported to a hospital where they were expected to survive.
During the incident, police also received a report of an altercation at a nearby hotel on Pavilion Parkway. Authorities say the alleged stabbing suspect fled the bar and was chased down by another patron, 27 year old Daniel Miranda-Lick, and the two became involved in a physical altercation. During that fight, the stabbing suspect was critically injured and later died at a hospital.
Authorities arrested and charged Miranda-Lick with homicide.
A GoFundMe page established for Miranda-Lick says he was trying to hold the stabbing suspect down until police arrived. A relative commented via social media that he punched the suspect and knocked him out.
Police offered no further information regarding the incident.
Miranda-Lick and two others were recently recognized for their efforts in rescuing a woman in an overturned vehicle last week. The woman motorist was trapped in her vehicle which was submerged in an irrigation canal.
He and two others pulled the woman from her car and performed CPR until emergency crews could arrive.
Authorities ask anyone with information regarding the stabbing incident to contact Detective Cisneros at (209) 831-6615.
